LabDesk Pro is an offline-first application. All patient and lab data — patient records, test results, invoices, and reports — is stored locally in a database on the lab's own computer. None of this data is transmitted to the developer or any third party as part of normal operation.
A lab may choose to enable cloud backup. When enabled, LabDesk Pro uses Google Sign-In to connect to that lab's own Google Drive account, requesting only the following scopes:
Backup files are encrypted (AES-256) with a passphrase the lab sets itself, before being uploaded directly from the lab's own computer to the lab's own Google Drive. The developer never receives, stores, or has access to this data at any point.
A lab can disconnect Google Drive access at any time from inside LabDesk Pro (Preferences › Backup & Database Health › Disconnect), which immediately stops all future uploads. Access can also be revoked at any time directly from the lab's own Google Account settings, under Security › Third-party apps with account access.
Encrypted backups remain in the lab's own Google Drive until the lab deletes them or disconnects the integration. LabDesk Pro does not set any separate retention policy for files once they are in the user's own Drive.
